Dr. Gianluca Viscusi

Dr. Gianluca Viscusi graduated in Chemical Engineering in 2016 with full honors at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Salerno. Since 2015, he has been a teaching assistant of Fundamentals of Chemistry. In 2021, he got his PhD, in Industrial Engineering, which concerns the design, production and characterization of novel materials obtained from sustainable polymers and hemp fibers. Currently, he is a Fellow researcher and Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Industrial Engineering (University of Salerno). His main research topics concern :
- Relation between microstructure and physical properties of polymers and polymeric composites.
- Design, fabrication and characterization of physical properties of natural fibers-based composites
- Production of nanocomposites and micro composites obtained through electrospinning as sustainable systems for tissue engineering and water remediation applications
- Application of Mechanochemistry to design advanced materials
- Synthesis of novel smart materials for removing pollutants from water effluents
Up to now, he is the author of more than 90 publications (Scopus Identifier: 57195350368).

Dr. Ismael Saadoune, a Full Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, completed his academic journey with a French PhD from the University of Bordeaux in 1992 and a Moroccan PhD from the University Cadi Ayyad UCA-Marrakech in 1996. His dual doctoral pursuits centered on advancing Active Materials for Lithium and Sodium-ion Batteries, offering promising solutions for energy storage challenges.
In 2002, Dr. Saadoune established the Laboratory of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, where he mentored over 100 graduate and 40 Master students. Guiding the research endeavors of 25 PhD candidates, all now active in industry or research laboratories, Dr. Saadoune has left an indelible mark on academic and industrial landscapes.
As the principal investigator, he spearheaded 22 national and 18 international research projects on Battery Materials, demonstrating his commitment to advancing energy storage technologies.
Currently, Dr. Saadoune leads the 'Electrochemical Energy Storage & Conversion' unit within ACER/UM6P, focusing on collaborative initiatives with UM6P ecosystem on the development of Battery Materials utilizing African Mineral Resources and the recovery of strategic minerals for energy transition via the recycling of End-of-Life Lithium-ion Batteries.

Professeur Mohamed TAHIRI

Prof. Mohamed TAHIRI is currently Full professor of supramolecular chemistry, spectroscopy, composite materials, electroplating techniques, Economical Impact on environmental, water and environmental engineering, biomass and biogas, Climate change, innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship.
Since January 2010, he has held the Innovation Chair and TTOat Hassan II University in Casablanca.
He coordinated the Erasmus+ Yabda project from 2017 to 2021(www.yabda-project.eu) and represented the University in the other Tempus projects OSMOSE, BUCUM and Erasmus + INSITE, SALEEM. In his faculty, he holds a Bachelor's degree in sanitation management in urban and rural areas since 2009 till now.
Since 2020, He’s Director of Research Laboratory at Hassan II University of Casablanca (Organic Synthesis, Extraction and Valorisation: SOEVLab)
He’s International Expert with UNIDO (Vien) 2012: Bioenergy, Water and Environment Management, Applied Chemistry. It conducts R&D in partnership with various industries. He is part of the national network of experts in environmental economics with whom he has carried out an economic evaluation of the damage and inefficiencies caused to the environment.
He has been awarded: Hassan II Prize for the Environment in 2009, AFP Washington Prize 2012, University-Business Competitiveness Prize 2014, InnovTex Prize 2019 and 2021.
Professor Mohamed TAHIRI has provided several technical training and workshops in several African countries (Chad, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Gabon, DRC, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, ….
Professor is now the holder of 4 research & development projects funded by different organizations (MESRSI, MCINTND, IRESEN, LYDEC)
He holds 5 invention patents. He has published more than 40 general and research articles, organized international meetings and conferences in Morocco (PRIDE Morocco 2007: International Conference on Renewable Energies and Water Technologies in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Navigation of Almeria Spain; MENA Symposium on Environmental Analysis and Economic Valuation, Marrakech 2009).
Professor Mohamed TAHIRI has widely consulted in the fields of applied chemistry, environmental accounting, eco-efficiency and eco-management, chemical risks, environmental engineering and climate change; treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater, biogas and biomass; …etc. He led the research team on the organoleptic properties of raw water deserving of Grand Casablanca. Pr. TAHIRI has been a senior consultant for multinational and national companies, particularly in water treatment technologies, electroplating processes, applied chemistry, recycling and waste recovery, detergency, sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation, sustainable development, etc.

Professeur Abdelwahed CHARI
|

Pr. Abdelwahed CHARI has extensive industrial experience, spanning more than 16 years, in large-scale energy production and water treatment at OCP Group.
He has held several positions of responsibility within the OCP Group, including Production Team Leader, Assistant Workshop Chief, Production Workshop Manager (Water Treatment and Sea Water Pumping Units), Facilitator and Coordinator of the "Movement," and Animator at African Academy of Industrial Training (AAIT) in EL Jorf and Safi.
Since 2018, Dr. Abdelwahed has served as an OCP professor, teaching modules related to Power Generation Technology and Water Treatment Technology at OCP Group.
He earned his PhD in Materials Sciences from the University Hassan II in collaboration with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). His PhD thesis focuses on the Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications (Water and Energy) of new phosphate-based materials.
Pr. Abdelwahed has participated in several national and international conferences, once as an industrial keynote speaker (Morocco) and multiple times as a speaker, invited speaker and keynote speaker (Morocco, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain).
He has been awarded the Best Poster Prize twice, from the Second Moroccan Spring School on Advanced Materials in June 2019 at 'MAScIR' Rabat, and the ENSUS Annual Scientific Day 2021 on December 13th at 'UM6P/MSN' Benguerir.
Since 2022, Dr. CHARI has been an Assistant Professor at the Materials Science, Energy, and Nanoengineering (MSN) department at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. His work focuses on developing cathode and anode materials for both Na- and Li-ion Batteries, synthesis and characterization of materials, and electrochemical evaluation of synthesized materials with due correlation. His current research focuses on developing a high-energy-density electrode materials system for efficient energy storage technology and low-cost batteries based on the abundant elements in Earth’s Crust.
